The LDDS01 is based on the LSN50 platform, a long range LoRaWAN node that provides spread spectrum communication and high interference immunity whilst minimising power consumption. Its IP68 waterproof design makes it suitable for outdoor use and it’s powered by a 4000mA Li/SOCl2 non-rechargeable battery. Due to its low power operation, users can expect years of operation with a moderate logging rate.
The Ultrasonic distance sensor comes pre-fitted on the LDDS01 and by default, the data record containing the battery voltage and the object distance (in mm) is sent every 20 minutes.
The operating parameters and many other settings on the LSN50 can be modified via AT commands on the serial port interface, but an FT232RL USB-TTL converter is required for this task (not supplied). The communications port can also be used to upload new firmware via the built-in bootloader. Some settings can also be changed via the server, like the transmit interval, operating mode, confirmation mode and the reset command.
When used with Telemetry2U, the distance between the sensor and the top of the water or product is reported in millimetres, but you can calibrate or scale this to litres, percentage, or any other unit of your choosing on Telemetry2U’s IoT Platform. You can see you water level in real-time on your Smartphone or PC as well as set up alerts when the level drops to a point of concern.
